About: The Pench River, which runs through the park from north to south and divides it into roughly equal western and eastern portions, the well-forested sections of Seoni and Chhindwara districts, gives Pench National Park and Pench Tiger Reserve their names. It was established as a refuge in 1965, upgraded to national park status in 1975, and recognized as a tiger reserve in 1992. It was designated a national park in 1983. The park is also mentioned in the well-known 1894 novel “The Jungle Book” by famed English author Rudyard Kipling. The park received the “Best Management Award” in 2011.
