Mumbai is the headquarters of the Central Bank of India (CBI), a public-sector bank in India. It is not the central bank of India, despite its name. The Reserve Bank of India is India’s central bank. The Central Bank of India was established on December 21, 1911, by Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala, with Sir Pherozeshah Mehta as Chairman.
