Where was the International Labour Organisation founded?A division of the UN charged with creating international labor standards to advance social and economic justice is the International Labour Organization (ILO). Due to its founding in October 1919 under the League of Nations, it is the first and most senior specialized organization of the UN. The Cook Islands is one of 187 ILO participants and 186 of the 193 UN members. Its headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland, and it has about 40 field locations all over the world. On October 1, 2022, Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo will take over as the ILO’s 11th Director-General.
